Katie Holmes Ensuring Tom Cruise Will Lose Suri Custody in Divorce

Katie Holmes filed for divorce from Tom Cruise Friday in New York City to ensure she would obtain sole legal custody of their daughter Suri to protect her from Scientology.
The actors filed for marriage in California, but that state usually awards joint custody of kids in divorces, so she filed for divorce in the state of New York since judges there tend to not allow joint custody.
Holmes is likely filing for divorce now because she endured the five year deal in their prenuptial agreement and will receive the most alimony money.

According to sources who know Cruise and Holmes to TMZ, she filed for divorce because she was arguing with Cruise over not wanting to raise Suri, 6, in the cult-like Scientology religion.
If she does not gain sole legal custody of their daughter, Cruise will have the ability to force her to become a full Scientologist.
Director Paul Haggis spoke out against the religion that touts an alien creation story last year after leaving, stating that they are homophobic and use slave labor to service the demands of Tom Cruise and other rich members of the church. The workers are paid under legal minimum wage and forced to work for room and board at Scientology compounds.
For Holmes’s five years of marriage to Cruise, news outlets and magazines reported that she seemed depressed and unhappy being married to him.

When Nicole Kidman was married to him, she also was seen as depressed. Many claims state that she rarely sees the son and daughter she adopted with Cruise.
Reportedly, Cruise is bi and has had numerous gay affairs since becoming famous, which may be one reason for his wives and girlfriends eventually becoming unhappy with him.
He is also known to be a narcissist and pushy with his religious beliefs.
The reason Penelope Cruz broke up with him is not entirely known, but she is reportedly bi as well and has had a long-term lesbian dating relationship with Salma Hayek.
New York family law judges usually do not grant two parents who do not get along the ability to both make parenting decisions because they believe the kids will suffer from parental fights.
The website’s sources stated that Cruise may try to fight Holmes to bring the divorce and custody hearings to CA so he will have joint custody of Suri.
