Nelly Furtado has released her first new song “Big Hoops (Bigger The Better)” from her forthcoming album T.S.I. – The Spirit Indestructible.
The song was debuted first on her website on April 17 as a YouTube lyrics video and with the ability to download it.
This week Los Angeles 97.1 FM radio has begun to play the dance Hip Hop R&B song as a single, and a music video is scheduled to debut next week.
“Big Hoops” was proceeded by K’naan’s song “Is Anybody Out There” with Furtado being a featured singer on it to create buzz for her solo song.

Furtado’s new song is about her big hoop earrings and her confident attitude.
It paints the picture of Nelly feeling good about herself with her outfit on – big hoop earrings, wide pants and a backpack.
She meets some new guys in the song and describes how she is telling them she is great: “Bet ya never seen something like that.”
In the background, it has the airy sounds of “ooh” vocals and keyboard chords played in a minor key to give it a mysterious sound similar to her number one songs “Say It Right” and “Promiscuous.”
The beat and instrumentals are not traditional drums, bass and guitars but are unique sounds made with mostly electronic, sampled instruments and effects that sound somewhat like a sampled bass drum, a big sheet of metal being moved back and forth and like someone is smooshing gel plastic containers filled with liquid and air to make farting noises. There is a metallic hi-hat cymbal too.
Furtado’s new album will be her first English album since 2006′s Loose.
Her last album in 2009, Mi Plan, was sung in Spanish.
She is also selling Spirit Indestructible tank tops on her website with all profits going to charity to build a school in Canada.

Does the sun have the power to transform humankind?
In Solar (R)evolution, world-renowned German biophysicist Dieter Broers makes a compelling case, pointing to a wealth of scientific evidence that shows a remarkable correlation between increases in solar activity and advances in our creative, mental, and spiritual abilities.
We are in the midst of a dramatic rise in solar disturbances, which have the capability of disrupting the Earth’s geomagnetic field and, as a result, our global ecology. Broers, however, sees this not as an impending apocalypse but as the dawn of a new era.
Drawing on research from a variety of disciplines, he shows how erupting solar activity carries the potential to boost our brain capacity and expand our minds in ways we never imagined possible. Abilities now seen as extraordinary or supernatural—telepathy, extrasensory perception, and off-the-charts intelligence quotients—may soon become ordinary and natural and could very well help us solve the mounting global crises we are facing.
Humankind is going through an evolutionary leap, says Broers, and the process has already begun.
