Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt Are Engaged; Break Gay Marriage Promise

Angelina Jolie, 36, and Brad Pitt, 48, a couple since 2005, are engaged, Pitt’s representative said today.
“Yes, it’s confirmed. It is a promise for the future, and their kids are very happy. There’s no date set at this time. Brad designed the ring,” the representative, Lindsay Kurtz, told CNN.
The longtime couple broke their promise that they would not marry until gay marriage was legal and all people were allowed to marry in the United States.
When Pitt’s representative was asked about this position after the engagement announcement, she did not have an immediate comment.

Angelina is openly bisexual, and there are many rumors that Brad is also bi.

Jewelry designer Robert Procop of Beverly Hills, California, designed the diamond engagement ring after a yearlong collaboration with Pitt, his representative said.
Pitt “wanted every aspect of it to be perfect, so Robert was able to locate a diamond of the finest quality and cut it to an exact custom size and shape to suite Angelina’s hand,” Kurtz said. “Brad was always heavily involved, overseeing every aspect of the creative design evolution. The side diamonds are specially cut to encircle her finger.”
The couple has six children, including three biological children together.

Pitt adopted two of Jolie’s children whom she had earlier adopted from Cambodia and Ethiopia, Maddox and Zahara. Together they adopted Pax, a boy from Vietnam. Their biological children include a daughter Shiloh and a boy and girl who are fraternal twins, Knox and Vivienne.
Angelina was previously married and divorced from actors Billy Bob Thornton and Jonny Lee Miller.
Brad was married to Jennifer Aniston and divorced her in 2005 after reportedly cheating on her with Angelina while filming the movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

Recently, Jolie was given a lot of attention for the rather tame act of showing her right leg at the 2012 Oscars.
The movie she directed In the Land of Blood and Honey received good reviews from critics but was snubbed by the Oscars. She was accused of plagiarizing another writer’s work for the screenplay.
Pitt was nominated for his acting in Moneyball.
