In a very immature move, Kim Kardashian filed for divorce today from Kris Humphries without telling him.

The basketball player had a suspicion his X rated reality TV wife might be giving up on their marriage, but he told NBA friends he was “blindsided” by the Halloween divorce filing and learned of the news through a TMZ report like the rest of the world.

Humphries and Kardashian’s recent marital issues played out in the tabloid magazines and ended with the “big-butted one” filing for divorce after 72 days of marriage.

“I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce,” Humphries said in a statement later today.

Humphries, a free-agent forward who played for the New Jersey Nets a season ago, married Kardashian in a lavish, made-for-reality-TV wedding on Aug. 20 in Monetcito, California.

The wedding seemed to be an ode to the Freemasons with its black and white motif, strange decorations and choice of guests.

According to Yahoo Sports, Humphries marriage with Kardashian appealed to the Nets franchise’s business and marketing executives and would help bring publicity to their move into a new Brooklyn arena for the 2012-13 season.

Kardashian lent some sort of celebrity status to the franchise’s courtside seats, but the sports site claims it was never going to influence the Nets’ basketball officials on how they worked to re-sign him.

Nets management does have interest in bringing back Humphries, but purely based on his market value for rebounding and defense, according to Yahoo Sports.

TMZ reported that Kardashian filed for divorce on Monday morning, citing “irreconcilable differences.”

In his statement, Humphries sounded like he was not ready for the marriage to end.

“I’m committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents,” he said, “and I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make it work.”
