The sex scandal of Senator John Ensign (R-NV) and Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) continues to become much more complex as the weeks go on.

The scandal has led to developing insight into their secret society The Family and C Street fraternity property in Washington.

On yesterday’s “The Rachel Maddow Show” contributing editor of Harper’s Magazine and author of the new book The Family Jeff Sharlett said a former Family member Ben Daniels interviewed wives of members of The Family and found that in their husbands’ lives first comes the loyalty to their brothers of The Family and then comes their loyalty to their own nuclear and extended families.

Sharlett explained The Family Senators wanted to make a cash payout to Ensign’s mistress’s family because of their philosophy of biblical capitalism that believes, “everything in the world can be understood through the invisible hand of the market including, apparently even these kinds of relationships.”

Coburn admitted he played a role brokering a cash settlement between Ensign and his mistress and said publicly that he would never discuss conversations between him and Ensign because they were privileged since he was an ordained deacon.

However, Coburn has changed his story, and Sharlett explains that Coburn and Family member believe they are not wrong but have “character” that means they believe they are being like Jesus but a version of Jesus that believes he had one set of truths for the general public and another set of truths for those people he anointed, such as Coburn and Ensign.

Thus it seems Coburn does not believe he has been doing anything wrong. Sharlett said Coburn seems to thinks he is being like Jesus by telling what is convenient at the right time.

This idea that Jesus had different sets of truths to tell different classes of people is a belief of the Knights Templar and orders of the groups they infiltrated, such as the Freemasons, according to Templar scholars.

The Templars believe they are protecting knowledge from the public. The Family sounds as if it may be a sect of the Knights Templar.

Ensign seems to have arranged illegal lobbying by his former staffer who is his mistress’s husband.

One meeting Ensign arranged for the mistress’s husband was with U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood. Sharlett said LaHood is also a long time Family member.

Thus, the Obama Administration is allowing this group to prosper.

He explained to Rachel Maddow that they want politics to take place behind the scenes with relationships and believe bending the rules is okay because they are serving a higher authority.
